Welcome to CCBC!
The start of a new fall semester is always a thrill. As I walk around campus, I finally feel like I belong at a CCBC. I come to school to enjoy being a student rather than just coming in for a class, going home and repeat. So as I see all the nervous new students looking at their campus maps and trying to find their way to class or the old, returning students in sweatpants wanting to be back on their summer break and anywhere but back at school. I smile because I am grateful for the new found sense of joy and comfort that I have finally found.
At the end of last semester I decided – at the insistence of my older sister, a CCBC alumni – to apply to the CCBC Student Life Ambassador Program. Walking in to the group interview I really did not know what to expect. I was by myself, nervous and a little overwhelmed. Now months later, as a new Ambassador I can honestly say that it was one of the best decisions I have made at CCBC because in the midst of all the stresses that come with being in your second year at a community college, I have found new friends and I have become involved with events that I did not even know existed.
Whether you are a returning or new student, I hope you have a great semester. I hope you meet new people and experience new things. Stay focused, have fun, and enjoy college life.
P.s. Don’t be afraid to try new things and step pit of your comfort zone. Join a club, stop by the student life office, see somebody with a blue ambassador shirt talk to them, it might be me.
