What if I told you that you have full control of your life? What if I told you that limits don’t exist? And to top this all off, what if I told you that how you think and feel about things controls how you view the surroundings in life?
Crazy, right? Our minds have this majestic power that we control but sometimes it feels like that is not the case. You can limit yourself to a lot of things in life. These limits can take a toll on how you feel, perform, and your overall outlook on life. I like to think that if you think positively, the universe will return that same positive energy to you. Same concept being used, if you think negatively, the universe will give you back the same negative energy you feel. This may come off as silly. I am fully aware that we can all try to think positive, but life has a weird way of allowing us to experience all sorts of emotions. Life would feel dull if we never knew what unpleasant feelings felt like. If all we did was have pleasant moments 24/7, soon they’d just become regular and not pleasant. It’s beautiful that we are able to experience emotions.
So how do we deal with different emotions or thoughts?
I think the first step to living a peaceful life is understanding you do have control over your emotions and options. You are the captain and sometimes the crewmembers that surround you may not like what you say, feel, or think. The idea that the captain must think of his team first does come into play. But imagine a captain who continuously puts others before them. They’re going to run out of energy, and this can be detrimental to their health. It may be selfish, but we must put our emotions first if we know it will have a massive effect on us.
Be kind to your mind and listen to it. Trust your gut feelings. Aim to be happy but understand life is full of ups and downs. Appreciate the good moments and try to learn from the bad ones.
