WHO AM I?
Hello wonderful people… Since you have reached this far, there’s a lot to read and enjoy.
Lets begin with a short and sweet introduction. I am Mehnaz Shoostry and in my 2nd year at CCBC. Major is Business Management and just two more semesters in my path before I graduate and step forward into the world of business and career.
I was born in Pakistan, brought up in Abu Dhabi (I lived here for more than 30+ years) went to Karachi after higher secondary school, for two years, to obtain my Bachelor’s degree (Political Science, Psychology and Education) from University of Karachi, Pakistan. Career wise I have been lucky as I did worked in sectors, which interested me. First the airline, than a multi-national bank and the last place of work was at a local finance company as Project Manager – Services.
Since traveling is a passion, I have been to and explored various beautiful places in the world and since US was second home for me, most of my vacations were spent here with family, thus in September 2013 moved to the US, bag, baggage and four cats (yup.. that right four cats) to be with my family. I will continue to travel once I graduate and although have been to various US states, planning to cover more by road.
I joined CCBC in Spring 2015 and besides working hard to keep up my grades, decided to join different clubs to mingle around with students and faculty members. At present I am an Ambassador at Student Life, Vice President of the International Club, Secretary of Phi Theta Kappa Alpha Rho Psi Chapter and student aid at the International Student Services Office.
Being a shy and introvert person, first day of school was quite challenging but not the type to give up, kept on going, taking one day at a time.
Life at CCBC has been rewarding and enriching. Attending classes and participating in various school activities helped coming out of my shell.
An ardent animal lover, sometimes called the crazy cat lady, I hope to one day open up a no kill animal shelter and also own a business in the IT field, unless a promising career at an organization comes up where I can utilize my professional and educational abilities to be productive and deliver, create additional revenue through well managed, on-time projects.
I have a keen interest in photography (I can be seen at some events going around with my camera) and capture in lenses the moments that have meaning to me, some of which will be shared in blogs as each picture has a story.
When not participating in various school activities, I enjoy spending time at home with the family, gardening (it was my dad’s garden and after he passed away in July 2016, I sort of connected to it and although do not have much gardening experience, keep my dad’s spirit alive there and in return it gives me peace and tranquility). I do write short poems and on occasions catch up with friends or just go out for a long peaceful drive.
Enough said about me and this being my first blogging experience, keep checking regularly, as I will be cooking up more recipes, I mean posting some more blogs for you to read and hopefully enjoy….
