Hey Y’all,

Today’s quote is a line from Arthur Ashe’s famous speech. A little bit about Arthur Ashe – “Arthur Robert Ashe Jr. was an American professional tennis player who won three Grand Slam titles. Ashe was the first black player selected to the United States Davis Cup team and the only black man black man ever to win the singles title at Wimbledon, the US Open, and the Australian Open”. I’m really not a fan of tennis but a huge fan of Mr. Auther’s quotes and motivational talks. I found today’s quote to be very connected to one of CCBC’s slogans – “START HERE, GO ANYWHERE” and “SEE WHAT YOU CAN BECOME”

“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.” — Arthur Ashe

I know some people have a certain connotation of a community college but today’s quote tells us to see CCBC or any other community college, from a different lens.

I see community colleges as first and foremost, a place that would save students a lot of money for the first two years of their college education. Paying for college can be a big burden, and annual tuition and fees at some four-year institutions can soar to thousands of dollars, which sometimes leads to student loans, debts etc. Second, the work-school-life balancing; community colleges give both traditional and non-traditional students who wish to balance school with family or career obligations a chance to still earn a degree, and get into the workforce. One other big advantage is the smaller class size

That being said, enjoy the quote and enjoy your day!!
