Something I love to do and take pride in, is setting goals. Big or small, I love them all. It helps encourage me to work harder. And strive for excellence. When you set your mind on a specific achievement, it’s one of the things that keeps you going. Especially when you’re faced with distractions.

This is something that is easier for some people, more than others.

Start Small

It might seem like you need to conquer the world today. But setting small goals at first will get you in the routine of regularly setting them.

It’s Never Too Late

We are more than halfway through the semester, and 2018. So you might be thinking to yourself “I’ll just start next year”.  WRONG. It’s never too late to start making a list of things you want to achieve, or start working towards. Don’t push it off as a New Year’s Resolution. This makes it more likely for you to procrastinate. And before you know it, it’ll be this time next year.

It Might Take Longer Than Expected

When you’re thinking of goals, think of a desired due date. Key word: desired. Nothing is wrong with taking longer than you had originally planned for. Picking a specific due date helps you plan accordingly. Now you can set up a timeline, that will help you reach the finish line. So if you happen to get off track, just jump back on.

Life Isn’t a Race

Just like I stated above, it’s good to set up a timeline. But don’t focus too much on how much time you have. Focus on the small steps along the way. And most importantly, don’t focus on someone else’s journey. It’s fine to become inspired by someone else. But never think that you need to be in competition. The only person you want to be better than, is the person you were yesterday.
