Today, March 8th 2018 is International Women’s Day, which is a day to celebrate Womens’s political, social, and economic achievements globally.

Being a woman can be tough some days, but here are some things we can do to celebrate together:

Show appreciation. Send out a quick text to some ladies in your life and tell them how much they mean to you. Don’t forget to keep in mind the women who you come across today, waitresses, co-workers, teachers etc. I know a few words of encouragement would brighten their day.

Here are some women in my life that I appreciate:

Learn something new.  Look up some fun facts on women’s history that you might not have known. A great way to celebrate Women’s Day is to take some time to reflect on past accomplishments, but also learn more about current movements. This will not only help encourage you, but you’ll also be more enlightened on the world around you.

A woman is like a tea bag – you can’t tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water.

– Eleanor Roosevelt

Use social media. One activity most people are taking part in is sharing the hashtag #InternationalWomensDay, #InternationalWomensDay2018, or #PressforProgress. Post some inspirational quotes, share a video, or give someone a shout out. This is the easiest and most popular way.

Make this a routine. Don’t just use this one day to show women you appreciate them and their accomplishments. Continue this on a regular basis. Take some time to look deeper into groundbreaking women trailblazers and don’t just keep it to yourself. Share your findings to educate others.

Days like this are wonderful ways to bring awareness to certain topics, but don’t forget about them for the rest of the 364 days of the year!
