College can be very difficult or a ton of fun. For someone like me, I had a hard time adjusting when I started at CCBC. Eventually, though, I became extremely happy that I chose CCBC. The key? I found an amazing group of friends as well as faculty, and staff that helped me at every step.
Finding friends in my major and around campus really helped me adapt to the college culture. Though most of them already graduated, I am still appreciative of their love and support. I recall them telling me that…
…College can be extremely hectic and overwhelming. There may be many nights where you have very little sleep, but don’t worry because everyone goes through this.
One thing I learned at CCBC, apart from a lot of Calculus and Chemistry, is Time management. Pretty much, college is all about choices and if you value sleep (as most people do) manage your time wisely. Getting into new routines are never easy. I find it easier and more fulfilling to get things done if I make a to-do list. In fact, even if I get something done and I forgot to put it on my list, I will add it just to get the satisfaction of crossing it out. I will even do the same thing now with calendars (i.e. if an event passed I will add it anyway).
CCBC is definitely challenging but if you stay on top of everything, you should be able to get by just fine and still have some free time. Sometimes it works if you just have to find something that inspires you to come to school every day. I got inspired by the stories of others – fellow students, faculty, staff, administrators etc. and I chose to keep an open mind.
Having a positive outlook on life is a crucial part of finding inspiration.
Sadly, this is my last blog post. It has been my pleasure, honor, and privilege to work with the CCBC Honors program, college communications, CCBC Student Life, Phi Theta Kappa, and students for social justice initiative here at CCBC. Thank you, everyone, that helped make my CCBC experience wonderful!
