Now that we’ve gotten back into the swing of things, now’s the perfect time to mention ways to get involved. Spring semester is my favorite, because I feel like the events are always more fun.
As I’ve mentioned so many times before, there are plenty of ways to be involved at CCBC. But I’ll give you a few things that I’ve personally been able to experience while at CCBC.
Student Life Ambassador: I became a Student Life Ambassador a year ago, and have been doing it ever since. As an Ambassador you work at various events around campus. Through working with Student Life I’ve been able to meet a large amount of the CCBC community, and even notable public figures. It’s brought me fun opportunities, like blogging! There is also Student Government Association and First Year Mentors, which also falls under Student Life.
Phi Theta Kappa: I’ve written a whole blog post about PTK: http://blog.ccbcmd.edu/thomas/2018/11/28/my-phi-theta-kappa-experience/ But I will say that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time as a PTK member and officer. It’s helped me grow as a student and leader. Joining may not seem like a big deal, but PTK is something that is helpful at CCBC and even after your time here. As a member you will stand apart from others. Whether it’s on your transfer application or on your resume, it helps you stand out amongst others. There are plenty of scholarship and networking opportunities also. I look forward to going to the Annual PTK National Convention this April in Orlando, Florida.
Essex Christian Fellowship: This is a great club to be a part of if you are looking for encouragement. I started going last semester and this is one of the nicest clubs to attend. As a Christian, it was hard for me to meet other people outside of class. Even if you’re not a Christian it’s still just a great group people who love to encourage each other. They also have a group chat which you can sign up for.
Photography Club: If you like photography, or just want to learn more about it, this is the club for you. I love that everyone comes from different backgrounds and has various experience levels. They hosts several workshops and trips throughout the semester. Even if you can’t come to their biweekly meetings (I can’t), they still send out email updates so you can stay involved. This is also a wonderful opportunity to have your work displayed. The photography club has a board on campus where they display member work.
This is just a handful of the fun things going on around CCBC. Here’s a lists of the clubs on each campus:
