The Plot
“Love’s fire heats water, water cools not love.” — Sonnet 154
Shakespeare’s sonnets of romantic and sexual love are timeless, for they are not bound to any particular setting or to either sex. In this collection of contemporary one-act plays, the greatest love poetry in the English language provides the springboard for new works about the triumphs and tragedies of the heart. Eric Bogosian’s sharp wit, paired with Tony Kushner’s surprising worldview, will take the stage alongside new pieces by faculty members Julie Lewis and Peter Carver, as well as CCBC alumnus Aris Hines.
