College courses are challenging, even under the best circumstances. For students working to conquer new subject areas, understand difficult concepts, or be successful in their first online class experience, a little help can go a long way.

During International Tutor Appreciation Week, we celebrate all those who promote student success on a personal level. Tutors work one-on-one with students in areas such as science, mathematics, psychology and General Education courses. Many of our tutors are former CCBC students and professors, as well as former schoolteachers. In addition to content-specific tutoring, they also offer academic assistance to students who need help navigating the tools of online learning, like Microsoft Teams.

Although our current public health environment requires tutoring at CCBC to be conducted virtually for the time being, help is never far away. Available six days a week, this personal instruction, support and encouragement is helping to make success achievable for hundreds of students each year. In fact, our Student Success Centers report that more than 550 students have taken advantage of this important service just since the start of the fall semester.

Please join me in saluting our knowledgeable, dedicated and talented CCBC tutors, and expressing our gratitude for the difference they make every day in the lives of our students.
