Dundalk Community Theatre is excited to announce auditions for the area premiere of the musical, A BRONX TALE. Set against the turbulent 1960s, A Bronx Tale follows a young Italian American teenager finding his path in life as he is guided by two father figures. A combination of Jersey Boys meets West Side Story, A Bronx Tale, The Musical, is based on the movie and the one-man play of the same name by Chazz Palminteri.

PRODUCTION INFORMATION
Rehearsals will begin towards the end of August 2022 and the production will run the weekends of October 21st – 23rd and October 28th – 30th.
Due to the autobiographical nature and the historical period of the piece, please note that the script includes strong language, racism, and racial slurs.
AUDITION INFORMATION

Actors should prepare 32-bars of a song in the style of the show (1950s-1960s) and/or one of the selected songs from A BRONX TALE below. Actors should be prepared with sheet music for selections that are not from the audition song selections below.
Additionally, actors should be prepared to perform cold readings from the script. Actors may also be asked to move, so please dress in comfortable clothing appropriate for movement.
Auditions are by appointment only and are scheduled in 45-minute blocks. Those auditioning for a role are expected to stay for the entire 45 minutes.
Bringing a photo and resume is highly recommended.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
NOTE: Musical Director (Nathan Scavilla) will play the selections below on the piano. Be prepared to sing with piano accompaniment and not a track. Once actors have signed up for an audition, they will be emailed further audition resources and sheet music for preparation. You will not have to learn the entire song.
CALOGERO: Male. Age (17). A young, likeable Italian American teenager. He steps in and out of narrating the show. Sing: “In a World Like This”.

SONNY: Male. Age (30s/40s). Italian. The number one man in the neighborhood. He’s the leader of the wise guys. Powerful and charismatic. Sing: “One of the Great Ones”.

LORENZO: Male. Age (30s – 40s).Italian. Calogero’s father. Strong and sympathetic. Works as a bus driver. Sing: “Look to Your Heart”.

ENSEMBLE:
The ensemble is very featured in this show. If you are auditioning for the ENSEMBLE, please bring 32 bars of a song in the style of the 50’s/60’s. Actors should also be prepared with sheet music and to sing with piano accompaniment. Examples: Selections from the musical GREASE or JERSEY BOYS would work.

COVID-19 SAFETY PRACTICES
- CCBC requires that all actors, staff, and crew show proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by the time rehearsals begin.
- Effective May 11, 2022, face coverings are required in all classrooms and indoor gatherings of 10 or more people.
- We are currently performing at 100% house capacity with a mask requirement for all audience members.
- Rehearsals will be socially distanced and masked.
- DCT will follow all necessary COVID-19 safety protocols set by CCBC.
