The CCBC Dance Company presents the Spring 2022 Dance Concert. We invite you to join us for an artistic journey as we share our new work.
The CCBC Dance Company is in residence at CCBC Essex, under the artistic direction of Melinda Blomquist and Associate Director Kristi Schaffner. This year’s in-person performance will feature new works by CCBC faculty and students and the restaging of two historic works.
We are dedicating this concert in memorial to the founder of Dance at CCBC, Carole Drake Cascio, through the restaging of her work Black Dust. The piece premiered in 1978 and has been restaged on two other occasions. As we honor her memory this weekend, we are grateful for her vision to create a dance program at, what was then, Essex Community College. We will also be sharing reflective videos about her life and work as an artist throughout the performance.
Join us for a reception following the Saturday April 30 performance as we celebrate the life of Carole Drake Cascio, founder of the dance program at Essex Community College and original director of Dimensional Dance Media. RSVP for reception at tinyurl.com/caroledrakecascio.
We are also pleased to present the restaged work Chaconne, originally choreographed by José Limón and restaged by Natalie Desch for this performance. The work is being performed as part of the José Limón Dance Foundation’s 75th Anniversary Celebration.
The CCBC Dance Company is known for holding mainstage performances in the fall and spring featuring choreography by CCBC faculty and various guest artists. The Company is also involved in community outreach with local schools providing special performances as well as master classes, lecture/demonstrations.
