COMMUNICATION AND MEDIA STUDIES

Branden Burrows is transferring to UMBC to study communication. Is a member of MSSI, Honor Scholars, and Phi Theta Kappa. Branden also served as a CCBC ambassador. Branded earned the National Communication Association honors, Sigma Chi Eta honors due to his solid work performance in Communication and Media Studies.

Catherine Nwoga Worked strategically in her studies and plans to pursue a degree in digital and social media marketing. Catherine holds Phi Theta Kappa and National Communication Association honors, Sigma Chi Eta honors.

Hannah Morgan is transferring to University of Baltimore and will study digital communications with a minor in web development. Hannah is an outstanding student and was named the 2024 Communication Studies award recipient. Hannah earned Phi Theta Kappa and National Communication Association Honors – Sigma Chi Eta honors.

Kayla Lemessy is a solid performer and earned a spot on the Dean’s List. Kayla is also a member of two honor societies: Phi Theta Kappa and National Communication Association Honors, Sigma Chi Eta honors.

Nathan Citko is transferring to UMBC. Nathan also earned a place on the Dean’s list and is a member of National Communication Association Honors, Sigma Chi Eta.

Rosia Frazier is a conscientious student who is earning her second degree. Rosia has consistently maintained her place on the Dean’s list and this time Rosia earned Sigma Chi Eta honors!

Tyleia Mack is transferring to UMGC and will study marketing. After Tyleia earns a bachelor’s degree, Tyleia will enter a marketing or public relations career.

DANCE

Darielle Young is graduating with her A.A. in Dance. She has been at CCBC since she started in 2021. Darielle began dancing at the age of 7 years old. She shared the following thoughts: While I was never a perfect dancer, I was always unique in my own way. I believe everyone can dance and everyone is unique in their own way. I want to thank God, I thank him for keep me through this semester, I’m entirely grateful. I want to thank my Mom and Dad, and family for everything that they have done for me through these couple years. I want to thank Melinda, Tommy, Adrienne, for the wonderful classes you have taught me, and I’m so happy that I had the opportunity to be your student. I can officially say I’m the Class of 2024.

FINE ART AND VISUAL DESIGN

Avinoam Drabkin (AFA Fine and Performing Arts – Fine Art and Visual Design) was awarded the Outstanding Student in Art and Design award for his excellent work in the CCBC Art and Design department. Avi graduates with a 4.0, won best of show at the Portfolio Exhibition in the CCBC Gallery, and has been an absolute delight in all his classes.  He has consistently set, and achieved, high challenges for himself, while being helpful to others.  His work shows amazing craft and design, and his organizational and conceptual skills are outstanding.  Avinoam was admitted to multiple prestigious art schools with scholarships, including MICA, SAIC, and RISD. He will be transferring to one of these schools next Fall, and we wish him all the best!

Quarn Wright (AFA Fine and Performing Arts – Fine Art and Visual Design) was awarded the outstanding achievement in drawing award for his wonderful portfolio of expressive and expertly rendered drawings. His works have been selected for publication in Fine Print magazine and featured in the gallery exhibition Becoming 2024 at CCBC Essex.  We appreciated his dedicated work as a work study student and as a temp hourly Digital Fabrication instructional aide for our department. Quarn plans to transfer to Towson in the Fall, and we wish him all the best!

Connor Meyer (AFA Fine and Performing Arts – Fine Art and Visual Design) won the Three Arts Club of Homeland Sculpture Award at the CCBC awards banquet. Welding, wood carving, wood turning, and sculptural hand building in clay are just some of the processes that Connor has tackled and uses in his artmaking. Connor is an excellent advocate for other students, takes time to help others and shares what he has learned to support the learning environment.  His artwork is notable for expressive gesture, and he is non-conforming in his artistic pursuits. He enjoys tackling challenges and pushing limitations. Connor has been admitted to multiple prestigious art schools with scholarships, including MICA and SVA. He will be transferring to one of these schools in the Fall and we wish him all the best!

Amanda Gough (AFA Fine and Performing Arts – Fine Art and Visual Design) won the Three Arts Club of Homeland Painting Award at the CCBC awards banquet.  While at CCBC, Amanda Gough created an impressive portfolio of work and was on the Dean’s list many semesters.  Amanda’s artworks have been selected for publication in Fine Print magazine, and her work was featured in the recent exhibit, Becoming 2024, in the Art Gallery at CCBC Essex. Additionally, Amanda has been an excellent work study student for the Art and design department and instrumental in reviving the Art Club at CCBC Essex, serving as President. She will be transferring to MICA next Fall, and we wish her all the best!

Fatih Yalcinel (AFA Fine and Performing Arts – Fine Art and Visual Design) has been an active and enthusiastic member of the CCBC Art and Design department winning him Outstanding Achievement in Artistic Community at the student awards banquet. He has contributed to elevating and refreshing multiple studio spaces across disciplines and, as a lab monitor, has helped countless students complete assignments and pursue their projects. Fatih has created a fabulous portfolio of works at CCBC, some of which were recently featured in the Becoming 2024 student Portfolio exhibition at the Gallery at CCBC Essex. Fatih plans to transfer to Towson in the Fall to study Digital Art and Design, and we wish him all the best!

INTERPRETER PREPARATION (All graduating with A.A.S.)

Avril Brandon is looking forward to getting out into the interpreting world and will be focusing on passing the NIC (National Interpreter Certification). She will also continue to co-host BIPOC meetup groups.

Allison Eisenberg will continue working at ZP doing VRS work as well as taking up community jobs.

Claire Goucher recently partook in an internship with Medstar Hospital, and she plans to continue her learning through other apprenticeships and freelance work.

Nathaniel Langerman will continue his work as a manager at Purple Communications. He also will continue working as a freelance sign language interpreter.

Savannah Moore plans to apply for CIRS’s internship and continue her duties at local deaf-owned business Crepe Crazy. She will also continue to keep up with her and Avril Brandon’s meetups with the Black Interpreters Club.

Nikkia Morton plans to begin working within the community and with mentors. Her goal is to develop necessary skills and tools to become a well-rounded, qualified interpreter.

Rose Porch will be working with Purple Video Relay Service as well as a performance interpreting agency. She plans to travel and take some time for herself as well to celebrate all of her hard work.

Kari de la Viez will continue to work full-time as a designated interpreter/administrative assistant.

MUSIC

Danny Dehn will graduate with an AFA in Music this semester. Danny is a section leader in Chamber Singers, and participated in MDDC NATS Auditions and student recitals. He was a founding member of the CCBC chapter of SNATS and has been the President of our chapter since 2022. As a section leader and the President of SNATS, Danny’s amiable nature and leadership have been an inviting presence and great contribution to both Chamber Singers and SNATS. He’s also always willing to help in the Music Program with anything that’s needed, from opening doors and inviting visitors in, to setting up risers and moving keyboards. Danny plans to pursue a degree in Music Education.

Zee Karp is completing an AFA in Music this semester. Zee has been a member of Chamber Singers and Jazz Plus, as well as participating in student recitals. Zee competed in NATS Auditions and won 1st place in the 2023 MDDC Auditions in the Non-Traditional Musical Theatre category and 2nd place in the 2024 Mid-Atlantic Region Auditions for the same category. Outside of CCBC, Zee enjoys life on the water as a pirate. Zee plans to transfer to Towson University this fall to pursue a B.S. in Music.

Oliver Klapp is completing an AFA in Music this semester. Oliver has been a member of Chamber Singers and SNATS, and has participated in student recitals and MDDC NATS Auditions.

Ethel Lawson is finishing an AFA in Music. Ethel is a member of Chamber Singers and SNATS, and has participated in student recitals. She has a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master of Divinity, but her love of music inspired her to continue learning and pursue an AFA. Ethel is a wonderful presence in the Music Program, offering encouragement and advice to students, and volunteering to help at events. She helps with SNATS bake sales every semester, and spent an entire Saturday volunteering to help host the MDDC NATS Auditions at CCBC. Ethel also works at CCBC in Academic Advisement.

Sharia McBride is graduating with an AFA in Music this semester. Sharia has been a section leader in Chamber Singers, leads the singers in dance warmups as well as sectional rehearsals, and is a member of SNATS. She participated in student recitals and MDDC NATS Auditions. Sharia is the choral work study student for the Music Program and has spent countless hours helping with events, inventory, and tasks in the Music Program. She’s always willing to help with anything that’s needed, and her dedication led her to receive the 2023-2024 award for Service to the Music Program. Sharia won our 2023-2024 CCBC Vocalist of the Year award and will performed a Graduation Recital of musical theatre, jazz, and pop songs. Sharia plans to transfer to Salisbury University to pursue a double major in Music and Theatre.

THEATRE

Tatiyana J. Terrelonge (AFA Fine & Performing Arts) has enjoyed her time with CCBC theater program as she has done many different shows her past 2 years. Through these years she has been at CCBC, has made her feel as though that she has built a family towards everyone she has met. You probably have seen her in “We Are Proud To Present…”, “Hotel Cassiopeia”, “One-Act Play That Goes Wrong”, & “The Spring Comedy Festival”. She wants to thank Damon Krometis, Jen R. Ring, Moe Conn and many more professors for believing in her and push her towards higher heights.

Brittany Runk is graduating from CCBC with an associates of fine arts in theatre. She will still be at CCBC to get a degree in digital media and creative writing. She has worked on Airness and tech on the short comedy play festival in her two semester here. She hopes to be working with the theatre department in the costume shop or wherever they need her. She’s excited to keep auditioning and being involved in the theatre as she works on her other degrees and projects.

Jayline Figueroa proudly is a graduate from the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) with an Associate of Fine Arts (AFA) degree. Over her two years at CCBC, she participated in five productions, showcasing her dedication to the performing arts. Jayline is grateful for the lasting friendships and mentorships from faculty members like Julie Lewis and Terri Raulie. Their guidance significantly impacted her growth as an artist. Attending CCBC offered Jayline numerous benefits, including personalized attention, affordable tuition, and a diverse community that enriched her learning experience. Jayline’s time at CCBC has given her more confidence in the things that she knows, and she is now able to fearlessly share her knowledge with the world.

Sarah Joyce is a CCBC Performing Arts Major who worked at the academic theatre’s costume shop and performed in several productions during her studies at CCBC, including Little Shop of Horrors and Hotel Cassiopeia. Her future plans include studying at a 4-year school and continuing to act on-camera, behind the mic, and onstage!
