As a tumultuous 2025 winds down to a close, I am reminded of the bold spirit that defines the impactful work we do each day across America’s community colleges. Each year, hundreds of thousands of ambitious learners enroll in our courses and programs. They come to push boundaries, explore new frontiers, and carve out a pathway to a brighter future for themselves and their families.
Because our college’s name is the Community College of Baltimore County, we are fond of saying that “community” is our first name. No matter the college’s name, however, that strong sense of community permeates everything we do; it is intrinsic in our mission. Whether sparking innovation in the classroom, guiding students from entry to exit, or providing the critical support needed to ensure that programming remains cutting-edge, this is what we steadfastly do all year long. We turn classroom experiences into bright futures that often morph into family legacies.
The holidays are a time to relax, unplug, and reflect on the year as it draws to a close. They bring with them a well-deserved moment of joy, renewal, and optimism. Although New Year’s Day will of course come all too quickly to plunge us into the busy world of the new year, the time in between is somewhat magical, ideally filled with peace, hope, and happiness.
